YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia Faces Backlash Over Controversial Remarks on ‘India’s Got Latent’

Ranveer Allahbadia issued a video apology, acknowledging his lapse in judgment.
Popular YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, known online as “BeerBiceps,” has come under intense scrutiny following a controversial comment made during a recent episode of the comedy show ‘India’s Got Latent.’ Serving as a guest judge alongside Ashish Chanchlani, Apoorva Mukhija, and Jaspreet Singh, Allahbadia posed an inappropriate question to a contestant, asking:
“Would you rather watch your parents have se* every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?”
The remark sparked widespread outrage on social media, leading to multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) being filed against Allahbadia and others involved in the show. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Guwahati Police registered a case under various sections of the law, including the Information Technology Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, citing the promotion of obscenity and vulgar discussions.
In response to the backlash, Allahbadia issued a video apology, acknowledging his lapse in judgment and confirming the removal of the controversial segments from the show’s recordings. He admitted that his attempt at humor was inappropriate and unfunny, conceding that comedy isn’t his strength.
The controversy has drawn reactions from prominent figures in the entertainment industry. Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali and actor Manoj Bajpayee emphasized the importance of responsible content creation, noting that quick fame can fade fast and urging creators to be mindful of their influence.
The incident has also reached the political arena, with Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi expressing concern over the remarks and indicating that the issue would be raised in Parliament.
Following the uproar, comedian Samay Raina, the host of ‘India’s Got Latent,’ deleted all episodes of the show from YouTube and issued an apology, stating that the only objective was to make people laugh.
The controversy has ignited discussions about the boundaries of humor and the responsibilities of digital content creators, highlighting the need for sensitivity and awareness in public discourse.
