Under the fifth edition of Cultural Diaries, the fragrance of Falgun spread at Albert Hall on Friday evening, when artists from Nagar town of Deeg district mesmerized the audience with their traditional performances. Reviving the 400-year legacy of Guru-Shishya tradition in the form of Talbandi, 15 artists of Dr. Babulal Palwar Talbandi Music Institute gave captivating performances of Talbandi , Braj folk songs and dance. The program started with Nagma Vadan for Lord Shiva under the leadership of Amit Palwar. This Nagma Vadan was completely based on rhythm instruments, every audience present at Albert Hall was fascinated by this Jugalbandi of Indian folk instruments. The union of melody and rhythm on the beat of the Damru, and Nagada, made the audience experience Veer Ras along with Bhakti Ras. The way Ustaad Siddhmal Rajasthani played rhythm on the Nagada, it brought the rhythmic style to life in front of the audience.

Along with this, performances of Braj showcased the culture and colours of Rajasthan. The artists dressed up as Radha Krishna gave a glimpse of Vrindavan. In this performance, the thumri “Aisi meri chunar rang mein rangi” based on sixteen measure teen taal in Raga Kaushik sound drenched the audience in devotion.
The folk song “Hori mein meri kaisi kuwat bhai” based on Raga Des Kaharwa rhythm made the atmosphere even more lively.

This edition of Cultural Diaries brought alive the Guru-Shishya tradition and the liveliness of Taalbandi and proved that Indian folk music and dance still preserve their antiquity and purity. This cultural evening organized at Albert Hall gave the people of Jaipur as well as foreign tourists an opportunity to take a devotional dive into the musical confluence of singing, playing and dancing. On Saturday, February 8, Gautam Parmar and his team will present folk dances like folk songs, Bhavai dance, Ghoomar, Chari dance, Kalbelia dance, Kaachi Ghori, Rim dance, Agni dance etc.
