Ramgarh Dam will witness the country’s first-ever Artificial Rain with AI and drone
Cloud seeding with help of drone at Ramgarh Dam
Rajasthan will witness a historic moment today when an innovative experiment of artificial rain will be conducted through cloud seeding with the help of artificial intelligence. All preparations have been completed at the departmental and technical level for artificial rain in the Ramgarh dam, which has been waterless for two decades. The state’s Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena will inaugurate the initiative today.
Drone will be launched for artificial rain through cloud seeding. While 60 cloud seeding test drives will be conducted in Ramgarh. To date, cloud seeding has been conducted by plane; hence, this is the first experiment in the country to be conducted in a limited area using a drone.
Earlier, this experiment was to start on July 31, but then it was postponed due to the warning of heavy rain. The team of scientists has been testing several trials for artificial rain. In this technique, scientists have analyzed the weather data with the help of NASA satellites and the Indian Meteorological Department’s radar. For the first time in the country, artificial rain is being made through drones using precision-based technology. Rain will be made in pinpoint areas at Ramgarh Dam with this technology. From spraying chemicals on the clouds to the weather department’s data, humidity of the clouds and the area where rain has been made, everything will be AI-controlled. Approval has been received from the departments and agencies of the central and state government for artificial rain through drones. The Agriculture Department, Meteorological Department and the District Administration have also approved in July. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has also approved the experiment with drones. America and Bangalore’s technology-based company GenX AI and Excel 1 are going to do this experiment in collaboration with the Agriculture Department. The company is starting it under a pilot project in collaboration with the government.
Notably, this may be the first time in India that artificial rain will be created using drones and AI technology. According to sources, specially designed drones have been ordered from Taiwan which will fly thousands of feet above the ground and release sodium chloride into moisture-laden clouds, triggering rainfall.
