Rajasthan police boycott this year holi celebration
In several districts of the state, Rajasthan Police personnel distanced themselves from Holi celebrations, demanding promotions and the removal of salary discrepancies. While Cabinet minister Kirodi Lal Meena and Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also came in support of the demands
Gehlot demanded that Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma should immediately intervene in the matter and look into the demands of the policemen.

In a post on X, Gehlot said, “After contributing to the joyous and peaceful celebration of Holi across the state yesterday, today the policemen are boycotting Holi. I appeal to the Chief Minister to immediately intervene in this matter and take a positive decision on the demands like promotion through DPC, increase in mess allowance of the policemen.”
Cabinet minister Kirodi Lal Meena also supported the demands and said he would raise the concern with the government.

Meena in a post on X said, “I request the policemen of the state that whatever demands you have, I will convey them to the Chief Minister and get them fulfilled. I humbly request all the policemen who are always committed to public service in adverse circumstances to celebrate the Vedic festival Holi with full enthusiasm,” he said in a social media post.
Usually, policemen across the state , remain engaged in maintaining law and order on the day of the holi festival. Thence , next day of the Dhulandi, they gather in police lines to celebrate Holi with fellow colleagues and officers. This year yet arrangements for Holi celebrations were made by in police lines across the state but police lines in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur and other districts remained empty in respect to the boycott.
The main demands of police personnel revolve around promotions and salary discrepancies. Policemen across state are calling for timely Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) meetings to ensure promotions, similar to other departments, increase in mess allowance among others.
While in Kota, Bharatpur, Pali, Sawai Madhopur, Bhilwara, and some districts policemen celebrated holi with senior officers smearing Gulal and dancing on DJ beats. However, the number of policemen participating was less than usual.
