Rajasthan Assembly Leaders Reach Consensus for Smooth Functioning Ahead of Budget Session

Budget is likely to be presented on Wednesday in Rajasthan VIdhan Sabha.
The deadlock in the Rajasthan Assembly over phone-tapping allegations raised by Cabinet Minister Kirodi Lal Meena came to an end on Monday, as leaders of all major parties reached a consensus to ensure the smooth functioning of the House ahead of the crucial Budget Session.
All-Party Meeting Resolves Dispute
The breakthrough was achieved during an all-party meeting convened by Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devani. Opposition Congress MLAs had earlier threatened to disrupt proceedings unless Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma addressed the phone-tapping allegations. However, following deliberations in the Speaker’s chamber, all parties agreed to maintain decorum and run the House peacefully.
Speaker Calls for Responsible Conduct
In an official statement, Speaker Devani expressed concern over the disruption in the Assembly and emphasized the importance of maintaining its dignity. He urged both the ruling and opposition parties to set a precedent for responsible legislative conduct and ensure that no such conflicts arise in the future.
Devani stressed that the opposition should raise concerns in a respectful manner, while the state government must respond appropriately. He highlighted that the upcoming state budget, set to be presented on Wednesday, holds great significance for Rajasthan’s eight crore citizens, urging all members to listen attentively and contribute constructively.
Public Interest and Parliamentary Decorum
Addressing the importance of the budget session, Devani reminded members that the public closely follows Assembly proceedings and that elected representatives should set an example through their behavior. He insisted that after Zero Hour, members should speak only with the Speaker’s permission, in adherence to the Assembly’s rules.
“This is an ideal opportunity for MLAs to uphold the dignity of the Legislative Assembly and fulfill the expectations of the people they represent,” Devani stated.
Key Leaders in Attendance
The meeting was attended by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel, Leader of the Opposition Tikaram Jully, Food and Supplies Minister Sumit Godara, Government Chief Whip Jogeshwar Garg, Chief Whip of the Opposition Rafiq Khan, RLD’s Dr. Subhash Garg, and Legislative Assembly Principal Secretary Bharat Bhushan Sharma.
With this consensus, the Rajasthan Assembly is set to function smoothly, ensuring an uninterrupted and productive Budget Session.
