Rajasthali Emporium Reopens at M.I. Road, Jaipur.
In a significant move to elevate Rajasthan’s cultural heritage and traditional handicrafts on the global stage, the iconic Rajasthali Emporium on M.I. Road has undergone a comprehensive renovation. The refurbishment was spearheaded by ‘E-New India’, aiming to provide artisans with a modern platform to display their crafts.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Governor Haribhau Bagde, who officially unveiled the revamped emporium. Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari and Premchand Bairwa attended as special guests, lauding the initiative’s innovative approach.
A highlight of the reopening was a curated exhibition featuring Rajasthan’s traditional arts and crafts. Visitors were treated to exquisite displays of blue pottery, bandhani textiles, zari-zardozi embroidery, intricate wood carvings, and traditional Rajasthani jewelry. The showcase not only attracted admiration but also encouraged purchases, directly benefiting local artisans.
Governor Bagde emphasized the importance of effective marketing strategies for Rajasthan’s traditional handicrafts and skill-based products. He advocated for initiatives that provide tangible benefits to the artisans and craftsmen integral to this heritage.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari engaged with local artisans, gaining insight into their craftsmanship. She highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, programs like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Swadeshi’ are being promoted, aiding state artisans in reaching a global audience.
The Rajasthali Emporium, managed by the Rajasthan Small Industries Corporation (Rajsico), has been a cornerstone in promoting the state’s arts and crafts. Plans for its renovation were set in motion to enhance its appeal to both tourists and locals. Rajiv Arora, chairman of Rajsico, noted that the emporium’s multi-floor layout offers ample space to showcase a diverse range of handicrafts, with dedicated areas for artisans from other states to display their crafts.
The revitalized emporium is poised to become a significant attraction, preserving Rajasthan’s cultural heritage while promoting tourism and providing artisans with a platform to reach a broader audience.
