Students of KGBV on Inter-State Diversity Exploration Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative Inter-State Diversity Exploration Visit is an effective step for meritorious girls. Under this, the students of Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls School (KGBV) who have performed excellently in the session 2023-24 are taken on a tour of states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. The objective of this educational tour is to enhance the spirit and harmony of national unity as well as to do educational, cultural and social study of the diverse heritage and culture of different states as well as to create a favorable education environment. Under this program, girls will get a special opportunity to learn about each other in the fields of language, literature, food, festivals, cultural events and tourism etc. of other states. So far, 63 out of 452 girls have benefited from the tour. Recently, girls from Sirohi, Churu, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Bikaner and Chittorgarh have returned from the tour, while the tour of the girl students of other districts is in process.

How students are selected :

For a maximum of four days of educational tour, one girl from KGBV Type-1, two from Type-3, and one from Type-4 is to be selected. The girl student who came first in the class in the academic year 2023-24 is selected. If for any reason, that girl is unable to participate in the tour, then the girl student who came second will be selected. Its information is first sent to the state level with the reason. Permission from the parents of the selected girl student is mandatory for the tour. For transparency, the list of selected girls is pasted in front of the entire school.

One teacher will be appointed on each group :

It is necessary to have one teacher / team in-charge on a group of every 15 girls, who should mainly be a government teacher of Type 1 and Type 3 or Mewat School / KGBV. It is mandatory for one male officer at the district level to accompany each group. The leading teacher ensures to give brief information to the girls about all the traditions and customs of the destination.

The work of forming groups of girls coming from different Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls Schools at the district level is done by the Additional District Project Coordinator in the district. For this, groups are formed on the basis of local environment, direction, and distance. Information about the tour and visit is also sent to the school 10 days in advance.

Report has to be submitted within a week :

During the tour, activities like notebooks to document experiences and learning points and folk music and local art performances are also organized for cultural integration. After the visit, the team in-charge has to submit their visit report to the district office within a week and send their photographs and experience report to the mail ID of the girl’s branch of Rajasthan School Education Council. Also, the expenditure report is also recorded on the management portal. This effort to know and implement the diverse cultural heritage, culture, ethics etc. of the country in life can definitely be called a commendable step.
