Sambhar Lake, India’s largest saltwater lake, is buzzing with excitement as the Sambhar Mahotsav 2025 is bringing together the best of Rajasthan’s culture, adventure, and natural beauty. Organized by the Rajasthan Tourism Department, this five-day festival is showcasing the region’s rich heritage while captivating visitors from across the globe. While inaugurating the festival Upendra Singh Shekhawat, Deputy Director of Tourism Department, said “Tourists get a chance to see closely the Rajasthani civilization, culture, and local food including traditions and heritage in this festival also we are constantly working to get Sambhar Mahotsav recognized at the global level.”
The world famous Sambhar Lake is famous for the taste of its salt and for being the destination of millions of foreign birds. Lakhs of domestic and foreign tourists visit here throughout the year. Especially from November to March, the number of bird-loving tourists is high who come to see them and capture them in their cameras. Because of the immense possibilities of tourism, the Sambhar Festival was started by the Rajasthan government in 2023. This time the festival is being organized from 24 January to 28 January. Tourists who came to the Sambhar Festival said that Sambhar Lake is a lake full of amazing natural beauty. Salt Lake of Sambhar is now also becoming famous for pre-wedding shoots and bird-watching tourism. Apart from this, places like Jhapok, Sambhar Salt Campus, Devyani Tirth Sarovar and Mela Ground located in the Sambhar are the main attractions of the festival.
Highlights of the Festival –
- Art & Crafts Stalls: Local artisans are displaying and selling exquisite Rajasthani handicrafts, allowing tourists to take home a piece of Rajasthan’s soul.
- Salt Lake Tours: Visitors are exploring the fascinating process of salt-making, seeing how traditional methods are blending with modern technology.
- Adventure Activities: Parasailing, paragliding, jeep safaris, and ATV rides are thrilling attendees, while colorful kites are filling the skies.
