“Nobody recycles like Nature”: Union Minister Bhupender Yadav
In a significant step toward promoting environmental sustainability, Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, delivered the keynote address at the 3rd International Conference on Sustainable Circularity, held by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) in New Delhi. The conference, which brought together leading experts, policymakers, and industry stakeholders, focused on the theme ‘Nature Positive Recycling’, addressing critical issues surrounding sustainable development and circularity in the automotive industry.
Speaking at the event, Minister Yadav emphasized the importance of integrating circularity into industrial processes, particularly in the automobile sector. He noted that as the world faces unprecedented environmental challenges, the need to shift towards nature-positive practices has never been more urgent. “The automobile industry plays a vital role in ensuring that resources are used efficiently and waste is minimized. Recycling is not just about reusing materials; it is about creating a system where every step, from manufacturing to disposal, contributes positively to nature and the environment,” Yadav stated.
The conference highlighted the need for the automotive sector to innovate in waste management, resource recovery, and lifecycle design, ensuring that vehicles and components are recycled in ways that reduce their environmental footprint. Participants discussed solutions such as advanced recycling technologies, eco-friendly materials, and eco-design principles, all of which contribute to the broader goal of achieving sustainable circularity.
Yadav also recognized the government’s commitment to fostering an ecosystem where industries adopt cleaner technologies and enhance their environmental performance. He urged industry leaders to collaborate and invest in research and development to create more efficient, sustainable, and circular systems in the automobile sector.
The event marked a significant moment in India’s journey towards achieving its climate goals while promoting responsible industrial practices in the face of growing environmental concerns.
